Click the &#8220;Schedule Change&#8221; button to make updates.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Actions<\/strong>: Select one of the following options for the desired block:\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Add<\/strong>: Choose the course from the drop-down menu (only participating courses appear). All other electives require the paper Add\/Drop form. Once selected, hit &#8220;Submit Request.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><strong>Move<\/strong>: Allows you to change the elective to another available block. Only open blocks will appear, and you cannot move into a block with a pending request or scheduled course.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Drop<\/strong>: Remove the elective from your schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Track Status<\/strong>: After each action, you\u2019ll return to the Schedule Change screen, where you can track the status of your request.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Confirmation Emails<\/strong>: You will receive email confirmations for all Add, Move, or Drop requests.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Final Approval<\/strong>: Once approved, the elective will appear on your schedule, and you will receive a confirmation email from the coordinator.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h6><strong>Outside Electives: Process for VSLO and Non-LCME Accredited Electives<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p><strong>VSLO Electives (LCME-Accredited Institutions)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students who are accepted for electives through the Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) system should use the online Add\/Drop tool to input the following details:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Block and dates<\/li>\n<li>Course name<\/li>\n<li>Course location<\/li>\n<li>Preceptor\u2019s name and contact information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: The dates entered in the Add\/Drop system must match the approved dates in VSLO.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-LCME Accredited Electives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For electives at institutions that are not LCME-accredited (or not listed in VSLO), students must follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Obtain a detailed description of the elective from the prospective supervisor.<\/li>\n<li>Submit the description, along with an <a href=\"\/camed\/files\/2024\/06\/OUTSIDE-ELECTIVE-APPROVAL-FORM.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Outside Elective Approval Form<\/a>, to the comparable department head at Boston University Chobanian &amp; Avedisian School of Medicine for approval.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If the elective site requires an affiliation agreement, the elective coordinator should contact Rebecca Halley:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Contact for Affiliation Agreements:<\/strong> Rebecca Halley<br \/>\nAdministrative Manager, Medical Education Office<br \/>\nBoston University Chobanian &amp; Avedisian School of Medicine<br \/>\n72 E.
