But for specialized scientific problems, what if the better approach is teaching AI what matters rather than simply making it bigger?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"137\" height=\"180\" src=\"\/camed\/files\/2024\/03\/John-Misasi.jpg\" alt=\"head and shoulders of man with dark hari wearing checked shirt light tie, smiling\" class=\"wp-image-120592\"\/><figcaption>John Misasi, MD<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>New research from Boston University, published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s44488-026-00010-2\">Nature Portfolio journal Communications AI &amp; Computing<\/a>, explores that question in antibody discovery. By focusing on the antibody regions most important for recognizing and binding to disease targets, the researchers improved binding-affinity predictions by as much as 27% compared with much larger models, while using fewer computational resources.
