The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that assistant professor of radiation oncology Kimberley Mak<\/a>, MD, MPH, has been named Distinguished Faculty of the Month for June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mak joined our community in November 2015. She currently serves as clinical director of the department of radiation oncology, where she specializes in the treatment of thoracic, gastrointestinal, breast, and musculoskeletal malignancies. She heads the Cyberknife Radiosurgery program for thoracic and gastrointestinal malignancies. Mak recently led clinical efforts as Boston Medical Center (BMC) became the first radiation oncology facility in Massachusetts to be accredited by the American Society for Therapeutic Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). She serves as BMC\u2019s cancer liaison physician for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. She is dedicated to teaching and mentoring medical students, both in clinic and on research endeavors focusing on oncology outcomes, patient reported outcomes, and disparities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her nominators say, \u201cDr. Mak fosters critical thinking and analytical skills, instilling a deep understanding of the subject matter and passion for learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
