Tara Moore, PhD, has been appointed associate dean of research ad<\/em> interim<\/em>, effective September 1. A professor of anatomy & neurobiology, Dr. Moore studies cognitive ageing and cortical brain injury using non-human primate models. Her work has contributed significantly to the understanding of the neurobiological basis of higher cognitive function and the effects of age, hypertension and injury on the brain and the assessment of therapeutics to reverse these effects. Dr. Moore also has made significant contributions to the teaching and training missions of the school by creating and developing two successful master\u2019s programs \u2013 the Biomedical Forensic Sciences Program in 2006, for which she served as associate director for three years, and the MS in Forensic Anthropology in 2008, for which she has served as director since its inception. She also has served in various roles on the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) since 2010, including scientific member, vice chair and chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the elimination of the reporting structure of the Medical Campus Provost, Emelia Benjamin, MD, ScM, is now associate dean of faculty development ad interim<\/em> for the medical school, also effective September 1. The Jay and Louise Coffman Professor in Vascular Medicine, SPH professor of epidemiology, Framingham Study investigator and Boston Medical Center cardiologist is an international leader in the epidemiology of atrial fibrillation. She has been continuously NIH funded since 1998 on grants related to atrial fibrillation, vascular function, inflammation, mobile health and chronic pain. She founded and has co-led seven longitudinal faculty development programs on the Boston University Medical Campus and has a deep commitment to mentoring, sponsoring and coaching faculty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
