Biography
Timothy Heeren, Ph.D., Professor of Biostatistics earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics (Statistics) from Boston University, and has been on the faculty of the School of Public Health since 1981. Dr. Heeren has developed and taught both introductory and advanced applied biostatistics methods courses at the School of Public Health. Currently, he alternates between teaching the core biostatistics course and the more advanced Statistical Methods in Epidemiology. Dr Heeren also teaches a graduate level applied statistical methods course through the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Dr. Heeren’s research interests are in applied biostatistics, observational studies, behavioral trials, regression models and complex survey design. His current applied research includes serving as biostatistician on a clinical trial of extended caffeine treatment for premature infants, a trial of a text-message oral health program for children, a prospective study of cognitive development in children born prematurely, and a prospective study of the impact of substance use in HIV positive patients.
