Johanna Thompson-Hollands, PhD, received the David Shakow, PhD, Early Career Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions from the Society of Clinical Psychology of the American Psychological Association. The award was presented at the APA Annual Meetings in Denver during the first week of August.

The award is given for contributions to the science of clinical psychology by a person who has received the doctorate within the past seven years and who has made noteworthy contributions both to science and to practice.
An Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Thompson-Hollands is a staff psychologist in the National Center for PTSD-Behavioral Science Division at VA Boston Healthcare. She was recognized for her work in evaluating the importance of family involvement in the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Thompson-Hollands is a graduate of Tufts University with a PhD in clinical psychology from Boston University. Her research is funded by the Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Institute of Mental Health.
