Service Learning

Service Learning at BUSM is an eclectic group of experiential educational activities that supports the well-being of our students by nurturing humanism, professionalism and leadership. Service Learning compliments the BUSM curriculum by providing the opportunity for students to work collaboratively with faculty to better understand the social determinants of health of our most vulnerable populations.

Students provide a service to the community (over 525 hours in 2016-2017) and have documented reflections as part of their annual reports. Our Service Learning activities are not part of the curriculum, but compliment the curriculum by providing students with the opportunities to develop communication skills, interact with their future patients and practice some basic skills learned in Essential of Public Health, Integrated Problem and Introduction to Clinical Medicine.
