Jocelyn Kuhn, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. Her research centers around improving access to care and effectiveness of care for historically underserved children with developmental, behavioral, and mental health care needs. She is especially interested in developing, testing, and studying the implementation of programs that disrupt racial and ethnic disparities in health, well-being, and access to services during the autism transition to adulthood. Her recent works have included manuscripts published in high impact journals on the topics of implementing a family-centered autism transition program; predictors of receiving diagnostic testing after a positive autism screen in primary care; the effectiveness of Family Navigation in reducing disparities in access to timely autism diagnosis; and the links between social determinants of health and unmet mental health care needs for children and adolescents.
Dr. Kuhn practices clinically as a Psychologist and specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders. She provides family behavioral therapy and diagnostic assessment at Boston Medical Center in the Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Clinic and the Pediatric Feeding Clinic. Before coming to BMC for an AHRQ-funded T32 fellowship focused on autism health services research and staying for her current faculty position, Dr. Kuhn completed clinical post-doctoral fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital / Harvard Medical School, clinical pre-doctoral internship training at the Kennedy Krieger Institute / Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and the doctoral program in School Psychology as well as Leadership Training in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Dr. Kuhn serves as a peer reviewer for several highly regarded journals in the field of intellectual/developmental disabilities. She has mentored and formally instructed undergraduate and graduate students and trainees across multiple disciplines, including clinical psychology, school psychology, social work, public health, medicine, speech/language pathology and special education. She serves on local and national boards focused on quality improvement research and professional development of early career psychologists.
