Brian Penti


Dr. Brian Penti graduated from Boston University and attended the BU family medicine residency program, where he served as the chief resident. He began work as a hospitalist for BMC Dept of FM beginning ’07, and then adding both outpatient clinic and rounding on mombaby service. He later became the Assistant Inpatient Director of Clinical Education under the direction of Chris Manasseh since 2010. Dr. Penti is involved in many international health projects, including serving as the former Medical Director for the Hoi An Foundation (, addressing unmet healthcare needs in rural Vietnam, and continuing involvement with the Lesotho Boston Health Alliance. There he focuses on the educational needs of doctors in the family medicine specialty program. He was awarded the Leonard Tow Humanism Award from BUSM in 2004 and 2012. Currently, he is pursuing an academic research fellowship with the department, focusing on safe opioid prescribing and issues related to gender-based violence.

Dr. Penti’s interests focus on inpatient hospital medicine (both adults and pediatrics), working w/ homeless & immigrant populations, and international health (specific experience in both Lesotho and Vietnam).
