Graduated from Boston University ’04, and attended BU family medicine residency program, served as the chief resident. Began work as a hospitalist for BMC Dept of FM beginning ’07, and then adding both outpatient clinic and rounding on mombaby service, later became the Assistant Inpatient Director of Clinical Education under the direction of Chris Manasseh since 2010. Involved in international health projects, including previously Medical Director for the Hoi An Foundation (www.hoianfoundation.org), addressing unmet healthcare needs in rural Vietnam since ’07 and continued involvement with the Lesotho Boston Health Alliance, focusing on educational needs of doctors in the family medicine specialty program. Awarded the Leonard Tow Humanism Award from BUSM in 2004 and 2012. Currently pursuing an academic research fellowship with the department, focusing on safe opioid prescribing and issues related to gender-based violence.
Dr. Penti’s interests focus on inpatient hospital medicine (both adults and pediatrics), working w/ homeless & immigrant populations, and international health (specific experience in both Lesotho and Vietnam).
