Biography

Alberto Distefano, MD is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Boston University School of Medicine. Previously, he was a fellow in Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Yale School of Medicine, a fellow in Neuro-ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute of the University of Miami, a resident in Ophthalmology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and an intern in Internal Medicine at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. He completed his medical degree at New York Medical College and was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut Honors Scholar program and was inducted into two honor societies: Phi Beta Kappa and Mortarboard. He regularly lectures to house staff and residents/fellows in ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society. Dr. Distefano’s professional interests include all aspects of oculoplastic and reconstructive surgery and neuro-ophthalmology including: disorders of the orbit, lacrimal system, eyelids along with their surgical approaches, tumors of the eyelids and orbit, cosmetic surgery, optic nerve disorders, and central nervous system disorders affecting the vision or related structures.
