The Faculty Affairs Office is pleased to announce that Stephen Brady, PhD, is February’s Distinguished Faculty of the Month.

Dr. Brady is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry, BUSM, and director of the Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine program, GMS. He has been a member of Counselor Education Faculty at Boston University School of Medicine for over 20 years. His leadership at BU extends beyond GMS as he is the immediate past Chair of the Boston University Faculty Council and former ex-officio member of the Trustees of Boston University.

He is an active clinician who primarily counsels gay men, with a research interest focused on HIV and serious mental disorders. He received his BA in Sociology from the University of Florida in Gainesville, and his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

The nomination states: “Dr. Brady wears many hats within the Mental Health Counseling & Behavioral Medicine Program and GMS, and he serves on committees across BUSM and BU as a larger entity. He is a student “fan favorite” and advises a full caseload of advisees within MHCBM. He serves as a casual mentor to a work-study team of undergrads and graduate assistants who value their time with him and his quips of wisdom. He actively collaborates on grants and publications. Time with Dr. Brady is valued by the faculty and staff members he supervises and he ensures that they are each growing in their roles, attending workshops, trainings and conferences.

“He works harder than anyone on our team and models how to do it all and with integrity and compassion.”

Congratulations!
