Administrative Staff Promotions Announced

BUSM Dean Karen Antman has announced the following administrative staff promotions, effective Jan. 1, 2020:

Frederic Majnoun, Anthony Rizzo and Maria Ober

Fredric Majnoun has been promoted to Associate Dean for Research Administration and Finance. Majnoun was appointed an Assistant Dean in April 2016. He is responsible for BUSM research administration and department finances, including oversight of the Financial and Grants Administration and Proposal Development offices. Fredric has been with BU since 2001, during which time he has held positions on both campuses in Research Administration and Finance. Fredric received his master’s degree from BU in Administrative Studies with a sub-concentration in Financial Economics.

Anthony Rizzo has been promoted to Associate Dean for Financial and Administrative Operations. He was appointed an Assistant Dean in April 2016. Tony is responsible for BUSM budgeting, planning, billing and operations. He provides strategic leadership and financial and management support for the School of Medicine. Tony joined BU in 1994, serving as BU Information Technology Buyer & Inventory Control Manager and Manager of Finance, before moving to the BUSM in 2009 as Manager for Financial Operations. Most recently he served as Director and Associate Dean ad interim for Financial Operations. A double Terrier, Tony received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management studies, summa cum laude, and master’s degree in administrative studies/financial economics.

Maria Ober has been promoted to Associate Dean for Communications. She is responsible for the School’s communications activities, including internal and external communications, issues management, crisis communications, media relations and social media. She also serves as the spokesperson for the School. Maria joined BU in 2005 as Associate Director of BUSM and BMC Corporate Communications. She was named Director in 2010 and continued in that capacity for the School when BUSM and BMC established separate offices in 2014, and appointed Assistant Dean for Communications in August 2017. Prior to BU, Maria held positions spanning the fields of sports journalism, health care and higher education communications. She received her bachelor’s degree from Rowan University (NJ) in communications and journalism, with a minor in sociology.
