Gregory Viglianti, Theresa Davies Appointed GMS Assistant Deans

Gregory A. Viglianti, PhD, and Theresa Davies, PhD, have been appointed Assistant Deans in Graduate Medical Sciences (GMS).

COM-Greg-Viglianti As Assistant Dean for Operations, Dr. Viglianti’s responsibilities include support of admissions, registration and student financial services; student grievances; academic policies and procedures; staff supervision and human resource management. Dr. Viglianti joined the Department of Microbiology at BUSM in 1995. His research focuses on cross-talk between HIV and nuclear receptor signaling as it relates to virus replication and pathogenesis. He assumed the role of Director of Graduate Studies for the Department in 1997. He served on the committee that developed the Foundations in Biomedical Sciences curriculum and on the committee that oversaw the establishment of the Program in Biomedical Sciences (PiBS) umbrella PhD program. He subsequently served as Director of PiBS and is a current member of the PiBS executive committee.

COM-Theresa Davies As Assistant Dean for Graduate Affairs, Dr. Davies’ responsibilities include oversight of events such as commencement and orientation; recruitment and program support; the website, marketing and advertising; coordination of student groups and communications; and disability liaison. She will retain her role as Director of the Master’s program in Oral Health Sciences. Dr. Davies began her tenure at BUSM in the Department of Biochemistry more than 35 years ago. After receiving her PhD, she was very active in the Department and went on to do research in the field of Alzheimer’s disease investigating the role of platelets and the blood brain barrier in amyloid deposition. More recently she has served as a member of the BUSM Admissions team and Director of OHS.
