New Record System from CME

In July 2016, the CME office successfully rolled out a new online system for managing CME certificates for BUSM accredited Regularly Scheduled Series (RSS) (i.e., Grand Rounds, M&Ms, Case conferences, Tumor boards). This online system gives the faculty immediate access to their CME certificates rather than the previous paper-based system that took many months to process. Course directors and staff now submit all RSS annual accrediting documentation online which allows the CME office to approve RSS for CME credit in real time.

With this online system, clinicians are able to create and access a self-service personal account at www.bucme.org where a transcript of earned credits will be stored and RSS CME certificates can be printed at any time. CME credits earned from other institutions can also be self-entered into your personal CME transcript aiding with the re-licensure process.

Each Department/Section/Unit will need to adapt their workflow to this new system. Staff and course directors should submit accreditation documentation in advance (at least 2 weeks) of each session for approval. Once approved, a unique code will be generated for every session. This code will be communicated to the attendees to be entered into www.bucme.org/getcredit via a smartphone or computer, in order to claim credit.

If you are expecting CME credits from sessions attended in the past few months but have not gone online to claim them, please check in with your local RSS Activity Administrator for each session unique code. If you have any questions about this new online system, please contact the CME Office at 617-638-4605 or cme@bu.edu. The CME office is dedicated to making sure that everyone has support during this transition.
