These are vital for support of our mission to fight cardiovascular disease<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heart.org\/HEARTORG\/\" style=\"color: #000000;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Facts from the <strong>AHA\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cardiovascular disease accounts for <strong>~1 of every 3 deaths<\/strong> in the US.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">About 2,300 Americans die of cardiovascular disease <em>each day<\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Cardiovascular diseases claim more lives each year than all forms of cancer and chronic lung combined.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Philanthropic support for the WCVI will help our investigators working on diagnoses, cures, and new therapies to combat cardiovascular disease. Donations will help research in the CVI in many ways, including but not limited to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">fostering new collaborative interactions among our researchers,<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">pilot funds for testing bold new ideas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">larger donations can be used for training the next generations of scientists (MD and PhD)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Named Research Programs allow for the significant advancement of focused research initiatives designed to develop new treatments for which there are no current therapies or are inadequate. Investigators meet personally with donors to provide milestones and updates on these research initiatives.
