Robbins lecture to the New England Society of Pathologists on November 13<sup>th<\/sup>. This lecture is named in honor of Dr. Robbins, former Chair of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. de las Morenas\u2019s \u00a0lecture \u201cChallenges in the Diagnosis of Well Differentiated Thyroid Carcinoma\u201d was presented to a standing room only group of pathologists.<\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Kurosawa Lab<\/span><\/b> News:\n<ul>\n<li>An invited review was published from the Kurosawa Lab in <i>Toxins<\/i>, in a special issue entitled: <i>Novel Properties of Well-Characterized Toxins<\/i>.\u00a0 First authorship is shared by Pathology graduate students Chad Mayer (MD,PhD candidate) and Caitlin Leibowitz (PhD candidate), who wrote most of the text and contributed equally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Mayer, CL*, Leibowitz, CS*<\/b>, Kurosawa S, Stearns-Kurosawa, DJ. Shiga Toxins and the Pathophysiology of Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome in Humans and Animals.\u00a0 <i>Toxins<\/i>,\u00a0<i>4<\/i>(11), 1261-1287, 2012. \u00a0doi:<a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.3390\/toxins4111261\" title=\"blocked::http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.3390\/toxins4111261\">10.3390\/toxins4111261<\/a>.\u00a0 *Equal first authors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dr. Stearns-Kurosawa<\/span><\/b> was invited to give a presentation at the American Society of Nephrology in San Diego, October 30 \u2013 November 4<sup>,<\/sup> in a session dedicated to new treatments for atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and Shiga toxin-related acute kidney injury.\u00a0 Her presentation was entitled \u201cDevelopment and Treatment of HUS in Nonhuman Primates Induced by Toxins from Enterohemorrhagic <i>E.coli.<\/i>\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Forum Raval has joined <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Barbara Nikolajczyk\u2019s<\/span><\/b> lab as a post-doctoral fellow<b>. <\/b>Forum did her PhD in Immunology with Dr. Eva Szomolanyi-Tsuda at UMass  Medical School. She is joining BU as a recipient of a Hematology Training Program Award<\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dr. Daniel Remick<\/span><\/b> served on a panel of speakers at the 2012 Society of Leukocyte Biology workshop on grantsmanship October 28 \u2013 30 in Maui, Hawaii<\/li>\n<li><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Dr. Carmen Sarita-Reyes<\/span><\/b> was part of a panel that discussed \u201cThe use of AJCC Staging in Clinical Practice, Including the use of prognostic indicators, evidence based national guidelines used in treatment planning in breast cancer cases\u201d. Presenters: Dr. Carmen D.
