Zach completed his thesis work in the Steven Treon Lab at MGH. Recently :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><u>Dr. Hunter<\/u><\/strong> received the Robert A. Kyle Award, one of the highest honors in his field<\/li>\n<li>As well as an American Society of Clinical Oncology Scholar Award, regarded as one of the most prestigious awards in hematology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Dr. Susan Winandy<\/u><\/strong> was awarded a CTSI pilot grant to study a &#8220;&#8221;New pathway regulating the harmful inflammatory phenotype of T cells&#8221;. BRAVO!<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Troy Sanders<\/u><\/strong>, a Masters student in the MAMS program has joined the Winandy Lab. He will be working on defining a new mechanism underlying\u00a0the control of the inflammatory program in human T cells<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dr. Anna Belkina <\/u><\/strong>just got back from presenting an invited seminar at the University of Washington Department of Immunology Seminar Series on July 12; \u201cRevealing disease phenotypes with computational analysis of high-dimensional flow cytometry data\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dr. Nader Rahimi<\/u><\/strong> and <strong><u>Dr. Daniel Remick<\/u><\/strong> were awarded a CTSI pilot grant to study the role of IGPR-1 in sepsis. The goal of this proposed study is to investigate the role of IGPR-1 in the\u00a0vascular leakage\u00a0associated with sepsis.\u00a0 Sepsis is the second leading cause of death in non-coronary intensive care units, highlighting a significant unmet clinical need.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dr. Nickolas Crossland<\/u><\/strong> was accepted into the Optical Microscopy &amp; Imaging Course hosted by the Marine Biological Laboratory. This 9-day course to be held August 20-30th is highly competitive and is limited to 24 participants to ensure a truly interactive, hands-on experience. It consists of interrelated lectures, laboratory exercises, demonstrations, and discussions that will enable the participants to obtain and interpret high quality microscope data, to understand and assess potential artifacts, to perform quantitative optical measurements, and to generate digital images for documentation and analysis that accurately present the data. Topics to be covered can be found here (<a href=\"https:\/\/protect-us.mimecast.com\/s\/feYmCwp5Z4CGzAy5iVTIxS?domain=mbl.edu\">http:\/\/www.mbl.edu\/education\/courses\/optical-microscopy-imaging\/<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dr. Daniel Remick<\/u><\/strong> was a Participant at the Pathology Advocating for Academic Pathology Discussion Group, Association of Pathology Chairs 2018 Annual Meeting<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Dr. Remick<\/u><\/strong> was also an Invited Speaker, New Pathology Chairs Bootcamp, When, Why, and How to Transition from Being a Chair Participant, Pathology Advocating for Academic Pathology Discussion Group, Association of Pathology Chairs 2018 Annual Meeting<\/p>\n<p>Also from <strong><u>Dr. Remick:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A Wiggers-Bernard Conference on Pre-clinical models of sepsis was held in Vienna, Austria in May, 2017. Four manuscripts are being published in the peer-reviewed literature detailing the conclusions of the conference.
