Miller, MD<\/span><\/strong> led a discussion and tour of the BMC Clinical Microbiology Laboratory for participants of the International Infectious Disease Symposium, October 13<sup>, <\/sup> The tour was part of a 3-day BUSM CME conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases that hosted pulmonologists and infectious diseases physicians visiting from the Middle East.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Miller, MD<\/span><\/strong> was the ASM Distinguished Lecturer at the Fall Meeting of the Western New York branch of the American Society for Microbiology, Buffalo, NY, October 25, 2016. Her topic was diagnostic clinical mycology: \u201cFungal Fest: Challenges, conundrums, and lessons learned.\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Barb Nikolajczyk, PhD<\/span><\/strong> presented her team&#8217;s work entitled &#8220;Identity and Mechanisms of Inflammation in Human Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes&#8221; at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, NYC, on October 24, 2016<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Daniel Remick, MD<\/span><\/strong>, organized a workshop for the 8<sup>th<\/sup> International Congress of the International Federation of Shock Societies held October 3 \u2013 5 in Tokyo, Japan. The workshop was titled: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Immunopathology of Traumatic Brain Injury<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> Remick<\/span><\/strong> also gave a presentation: \u201cMild Traumatic Brain Injury but not Tail Trauma Augments Pulmonary Clearance of Substance P\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Daniel Remick, MD<\/span><\/strong>, was also invited to give a presentation at the 8<sup>th<\/sup> International Congress of the International Federation of Shock Societies in Tokyo, Japan titled: \u201cUnderstanding the Heterogeneity of the Host Response to Infection May Direct Therapy\u201d<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mostafa Belghasem, PhD<\/span><\/strong> presented two posters at BU\u2019s Annual Evans Days 2016 Meeting, October 13 &amp; 14, 2016:\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cAryl Hydrocarbon Receptor signaling is an in vivo targetable antithrombotic pathway and it correlates with thrombosis in humans\u201d <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mostafa Belghasem<\/span><\/strong>, Moshe Shashar, Jamaica Siwak, Faisal Alousi, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joel Henderson<\/span><\/strong>, Anqi Zhang, Jean Francis, Vijaya B. Kolachalama, Vipul Chitalia.<\/li>\n<li>\u201cCHIP: A Novel Target For Thrombosis\u201d Moshe Shashar, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mostafa Belghasem<\/span><\/strong>, Shinobu Matsuura, Faisal Alousi, Keshab Raji, Jean Francis, Vijaya Kolachalama, <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Joel Henderson<\/span><\/strong>, Mercedes Balcells, Kumaran Kolandaivelu, Katya Ravid, Vipul Chitalia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Keith Keller, Masters Student in the Henderson Lab<\/span><\/strong> has been selected to participate in Kidney STARS 2016 program organized by the American Society of Nephrology (ASN).
