{"id":13009,"date":"2015-08-06T14:44:48","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T18:44:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm-pathology\/?page_id=13009"},"modified":"2019-08-22T10:10:23","modified_gmt":"2019-08-22T14:10:23","slug":"guidelines-for-requesting-mallory-research-funds","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm-pathology\/guidelines-for-requesting-mallory-research-funds\/","title":{"rendered":"Guidelines for requesting Mallory Research Funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PROPOSAL FOR FUNDING PROJECTS BY\u00a0<\/strong><strong>BOSTON<\/strong><strong> UNIVERSITY<\/strong><strong> MALLORY PATHOLOGY ASSOCIATES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Application Guidelines and Review Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Mission:<\/span><\/strong> To provide faculty and residents in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with support for high-quality research projects.\u00a0 Projects will be funded to a maximum cost of $5,000 per project with total program costs of no more than $50,000 annually.\u00a0 Projects will be assessed and prioritized using the following criteria (not listed in order of priority):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aligned with institutional and departmental priorities<\/li>\n<li>Potential to expand research opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Likelihood to yield peer-reviewed publication(s)<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to increase collaboration within or across academic units<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to engage pathology trainees<\/li>\n<li>Likelihood to yield extramural grant support (if appropriate to project)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications must have an active collaborator from the Boston University Mallory Faculty Practice Plan in order to submit an application.<\/p>\n<p>Applications not initially approved for funding can be revised and resubmitted for consideration.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Application Format:<\/span><\/strong> Project proposals should be brief (\u2264 3 pages, 1 inch margins, \u00b3 11 point font) and should include the following sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hypothesis and Specific Aim(s)<\/li>\n<li>Background and Significance<\/li>\n<li>Preliminary Data \u2013 if appropriate but not necessary<\/li>\n<li>Research Design and Methods<\/li>\n<li>Discussion \u2013 including a succinct discussion of expected outcomes, potential pitfalls, alternative approaches and benefit to the investigator(s)<\/li>\n<li>Relevant references<\/li>\n<li>Budget &#8211;
