I went on to completing my B.S. in Medical and Molecular Biology at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) where my love for science and biology thrived. During my college years, I worked in Dr. Monica Colaiacovo’s lab at Harvard Medical school studying post-translational regulation of chromosome synapsis during meiosis in C. elegans. After graduation I worked as an EMT for a year and then I returned to Dr. Colaiacovo’s lab as a research assistant. At that time I was researching the regulation of chromosome dynamics and DNA double-strand breaks. As a PhD student in the PiBS program, I joined Dr. Valentina Perissi’s and Dr. Stefan Isaac’s labs. I am interested in understanding the role of subpopulation of mitochondria that localizes near the nucleus. I am developing purification system to isolate perinuclear subpopulation of mitochondria and will be characterizing it using genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics approaches.

<h4 class="bu_collapsible" aria-expanded="false"tabindex="0" role="button">Representative Publications

Lascarez-Lagunas LI, Nadarajan S, Martinez-Garcia M, Quinn JN, Todisco E, Thakkar T, Berson E, Eaford D, Crawley O, Montoya A, Faul P, Ferrandiz N, Barroso C, Labella S, Koury E, Smolikove S, Zetka M, Martinez-Perez E, Colaiácovo MP.
