For a full list of research cores please see these pages: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/research\/cores\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BUSM Cores.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Our Departmental Resources &amp; Cores:<\/h3>\n<p>Our Department houses additional large equipment that are shared or serve as cores including qPCR, Confocal, and Mass Spectrometry. Please see detailed information below.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">qPCR<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe Department has several ABI qPCR machines that are available on a sign-up basis located on K1 and K6.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"irc_mi iBpF89YRBPks-pQOPx8XEepE\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thermofisher.com\/us\/en\/home\/life-science\/pcr\/real-time-pcr\/real-time-pcr-instruments\/viia-7-real-time-pcr-system\/_jcr_content\/MainParsys\/image_3.img.gif\/1375269064233.gif\" width=\"200\" height=\"201\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">LiCor Odyssey Imaging System<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe Department has a LiCor Odyssey imaging system in K2 that is used for multicolor fluorescent imaging of Western blots.<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/biochemcellbio\/files\/2016\/08\/Screen-shot-2016-08-04-at-3.58.20-PM1.png\" alt=\"Screen shot 2016-08-04 at 3.58.20 PM\" width=\"366\" height=\"252\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-12530\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Confocal Microscopy Facility<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><br \/>\nThe Confocal core facility\u00a0\u00a0provides confocal microscopy services for cell imaging and analysis, as well as assistance in project\/ experiment planning.\u00a0 There are currently several\u00a0confocal microscopes including scopes with\u00a0environmental chambers. The instruments were purchased off NCRR grants and are available for the use of faculty, postdocs, students and technicians after training.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u2022 Information and contacts are here BUSM <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/research\/cores\/optical-microscopy-cell-and-tissue-imaging-cores\/confocal-microscope-facility\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Confocal Core facility<\/a>.<br \/>\n\u2022 Additional imaging resources are available in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cores\/home\/cellular-imaging-core\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cellular Imaging Core<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"275\" height=\"142\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-24241\" alt=\"ZEISS Introduces LSM 880 with Airyscan\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/busm\/files\/2015\/09\/PI-0089-2014_zeiss-lsm880-with-airyscan.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Zeiss LSM 880 Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope with Airyscan arrived in January 2016!<\/h4>\n<p><span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Center for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The BUSM Center for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry\u00a0is engaged in the development and application of mass spectral methods for biology and medicine with primary emphasis on studies of oligosaccharides and glycoconjugates. Our laboratories are supported by the NIH National Center for Research Resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our\u00a0mission is to pursue sophisticated mass spectrometry in an environment with close interaction with life scientists and physicians. Faculty are members of the Department of Biochemistry and the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences at the Boston University School of Medicine. Of course these are items that are clean and free from any chemicals, biologicals, etc. Mostly these items are catalogs, glove boxes, clean tip boxes. This is especially true for lab computers which do not require automatic updates.
