{"id":6744,"date":"2018-10-04T15:25:41","date_gmt":"2018-10-04T19:25:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/?post_type=profile&#038;p=6744"},"modified":"2018-12-12T13:20:51","modified_gmt":"2018-12-12T18:20:51","slug":"bill-tyler","status":"publish","type":"profile","link":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/profile\/bill-tyler\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill Tyler"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Tyler\u2019s research focuses on elucidating the cell and molecular mechanisms that generate neuronal diversity in the neocortex.\u00a0 Progress in these endeavors has been advanced by employing a multidisciplinary approach; combining novel <em>in vivo <\/em>fate mapping, electrophysiology, and cutting edge time-lapse imaging techniques.\u00a0 Our recent work has shown that different classes of neural stem and progenitor cells contemporaneously give rise to excitatory neurons with distinct morphological and electrophysiological properties.\u00a0 These studies suggest that precursor heterogeneity plays a foundational role in the generation of intra-laminar neuronal diversity in the neocortex.\u00a0 We are continuing this work using single-cell gene expression profiling, gain- and loss-of-function studies, as well as developing new molecular tools to further refine our ability to fate map individual lineages of neurons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":15199,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/6744"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/15199"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/6744\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":6746,"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/6744\/revisions\/6746"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bumc.bu.edu\/anatneuro\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=6744"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
