She then received her PhD in Neuroscience from Tufts University. As a graduate student in the lab of Dr. Philip Haydon, Dr. Foley focused her research on the function of astrocytes in normal and abnormal physiology. After her PhD, Dr. Foley conducted research at Harvard Medical School, working in the lab of Dr. Gary Yellen. She investigated how genetic manipulation of cellular metabolism confers seizure protection in mouse models of epilepsy.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Foley is the Graduate Program Director for the MS (Vesalius) and PhD Programs in Anatomy &#038; Neurobiology. She is the course director for Professional Skills, Special Topics in Neurophysiology, and co-director for Methods in Neuroscience. She also lectures in the Graduate Histology course. Dr. Foley teaches in the MAMS program as a member of the Cellular Organization of Tissues teaching faculty and lectures in the Human Body Systems course.
