Mal graduated from Sri Ramachandra University, India in 2012 with a BS in Biomedical Science, before moving to Boston to join the department. Her undergraduate thesis was to study the role of the RFC1 polymorphism in Down syndrome. Apart from that, she was awarded the Chancellor’s Summer Research Fellowship to assist on a research project that studied the PCA3 polymorphism and its implications in prostate cancer. Her research interest lies mainly in behavioral neuroscience and she has recently joined the laboratory of cognitive neurobiology with Dr. Douglas Rosene as her mentor. Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, dancing and eating cake – maybe even all at once.
