In 2011, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) launched NuRide, a ride-sharing and reward system. Users track their daily commutes, see their environmental impact, and receive rewards for their “green” trips!
NuRide is the nation’s largest rewards program for individuals who take greener trips. A “green” trip is when you don’t drive solo and instead choose to walk, bike, telecommute, carpool, vanpool, take a subway, train, bus, ferry or even work a compressed week. NuRide is free to join and use for tracking both personal and business commutes!
“Our mission at NuRide is to reward each and every person who does their part to reduce traffic and emissions by taking a greener trip. Problems like this can’t be solved by one company or even a dozen companies; the solution will come from each and every one of us doing our part. People just like you, your neighbors and your colleagues. Keep doing what you do and we will do our best to keep rewarding you — and thanks for NuRiding!”
Rewards include free merchandise, discounted meals and event tickets, and other goods from local sponsoring organizations.
