610 Garage Preferential Parking Gate (Carpoolers, Hybrids/Electric Vehicles)

Dear Carpoolers, Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Drivers,

We are happy to announce that a new gate has been installed on the first level of the 610 parking garage for members enrolled in our carpool, hybrid and electric vehicle programs! We are excited for this new addition and are aiming to launch the use of this new gate on Monday October 30th, 2017!

Entering the 610 gate entrance will resume as normal for those who pay for parking. Before entering the preferential parking area there will be a second gate where registered carpoolers, hybrid, and electric vehicle members will need to badge into. When accessing the preferential parking area, please try your best to utilize the far right gate to badge in when entering the 610 garage. Please refrain from using the middle lane as this can cause traffic and for safety reasons.

There are TWO separate transponders, one for Carpoolers and one for Hybrid/Electric Vehicle drivers.

If you are carpooling please tap both carpoolers ID badges on the “CARPOOL” transponder on the left. If you are a Hybrid/Electric vehicle driver, please tap your ID badge on the “HYBRID” transponder on the right.

ALL CARPOOLERS enrolled into our program will have access to this area. In order to enter the preferential parking area, at least 2 carpoolers must be present and must tap two ID badges onto the transponder. Carpoolers will badge in on the transponder labeled “CARPOOL”. You will need to badge in with the PRIMARY carpooler’s ID badge (person who pays for parking) first and then the secondary carpooler’s ID badge. The gate will not lift up without 2 carpooler badges. PLEASE HAVE BOTH ID BADGES READY PRIOR TO ENTERING THE 610 GARAGE, as idling will cause delays and backing up will be extremely difficult. Having your badges ready will help us to eliminate traffic in the garage.

For parties that have more than 2 carpoolers in their group, only two ID badges are needed to enter. The PRIMARY carpooler’s ID badge and any secondary carpooler’s ID badge.

If the PRIMARY carpooler will not be utilizing parking for the day but the other 2 (or more) carpoolers of the party need to enter the garage together, please contact the TranSComm Office in advance to provide you with access.

When EXITING, the PRIMARY carpooler’s ID badge will be needed in order to tap out.

*If there are any changes to your carpool group, please update us ASAP.*

HYBRID AND ELECTRIC VEHICLE drivers will badge in on the transponder labeled “HYBRID”. Only the payee’s ID badge will have access to enter. PLEASE HAVE YOUR ID BADGE READY PRIOR TO ENTERING THE 610 GARAGE, as idling will cause delays and backing up will be extremely difficult. Having your badge ready will help us to eliminate traffic in the garage

There are 2 dual electric vehicle charging stations and 4 parking spots in the preferential parking area. Hybrid and electric vehicle drivers may charge their vehicle for free up to 4 hours. We ask that all hybrid and electric vehicle drivers move their vehicles after the first 4 hours to optimize the use of the charging stations. Any hour after the first 4 free hours of charging will be $10/hour. Non-charging vehicles are not permitted to park in these spots, as they are for active charging only. If your vehicle is fully charged prior to the first 4 free hours, please kindly move your vehicle ASAP.

*Violators will be cited and subject to being revoked from the parking program. Cameras have been installed to make sure all rules and regulations are being followed and to keep this area running as smoothly as possible.*

Please be advised to pick up your updated carpool hangers and hybrid/electric vehicle stickers yearly.
