The Surgery Education Office in the Department of Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center is designed to provide administrative support to the director of the core clerkship and residency programs. Our five year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited surgery training program is committed to preparing future generations of surgeons. The program leads to American Board of Surgery Certification within an environment designed to encourage clinical and basic scientific investigational experience. We encourage residents interested in careers in academic surgery to develop the necessary skills in surgical research, education and or administration through a broad range of opportunities designed to maximize academic development.
The principal goal of the program is clinical excellence. We believe that exposure to a large, diverse patient population and a broad experience in complex open and minimally invasive surgery are essential elements in the training of outstanding surgeons.
