Alumni, parents & friends
Though he practiced medicine in far-off Washington, Montana, Nebraska, and Iowa, J. Scott Pennepacker (MED’45) aways remained connected to the School of Medicine. He was a long-time member of the Dean’s Club and traveled to campus from his home in Missoula, Montana, to attend his BUSM reunion. When he died in 2007, Pennepacker demonstrated how much his connection to the School meant to him by leaving BUSM a significant gift from his estate. Pennpacker’s bequest will support a residential scholarship for BUSM students in the new student residence, and a portion of a floor in the building will be named Pennepacker Hall.
“The School is incredibly grateful to Dr. Pennepacker for his wonderful generosity,” says Dean Karen Antman. “Our students will forever be indebted to Dr. Pennepacker for remembering his days here at BUSM in such a generous way.”
A planned gift like the described above is just one of many ways that alumni, parents, and friends of the Boston University School of Medicine can further the School’s research agenda and educational mission. Endowed gifts keep giving year after year, creating a legacy of support. Current-use gifts allow Dean Antman to put the full power of contribution to work immediately. Gifts in memory and honor commemorate special events and people in an active, meaningful way.
