Lung Stem Cell and Developmental Biology

Bleomycin-Induced Lung Injury and Repair

Bleomycin-Induced Lung Injury and Repair

The Lung Stem Cell and Developmental Biology Components of the Center for Regenerative Medicine are housed in the Pulmonary Center at Boston University School of Medicine. Investigators in these programs interact regularly in a joint weekly research conference and have successfully maintained a Program Project Grant in Lung Development, funded by the NIH for over 16 years. The over arching philosophy of these investigators is: “To truly understanding stem cell biology and tissue repair for any organ system, one must first have a detailed understanding of the way cells in that organ differentiate during normal embryonic development.” With this unified approach in mind, investigators in the Pulmonary Center have a distinguished record of publishing seminal findings in both lung development, lung injury and repair, and lung stem cell biology.
