Using PureEdge on Non-windows Machines

For those wishing to use the PureEdge software on a Mac or other non-windows machine, Grants.gov recommends the use of PC emulation software as a first option, which allows your machine to run the Windows operating system and consequently enables you to use the PC version of PureEdge. Grants.gov provides information on this and other options at the link on the bottom of this page. Other solutions we have testedthus far are:

· IBM Workplace Forms Viewer (PureEdge) for Macintosh – This Special Edition software from IBM is an early release and works on MAC computers running Mac OS 10.4.6 or newer. You will need to select the current version depending on whether or not you are using a PPC or Intel Processor. If your Mac OS version is prior to 10.4.6, you will be unable to use the IBM Workplace Forms Viewer. Please note that limitations of this early release software may include:

· Occasional crashes and subsequent loss of any unsaved data
· Inability to run on Mac OS version prior to 10.4.6
· No current support for screen readers for visually impaired users
· Installation at the root level of the user account home directory (e.g. Users/jsmith/).
· Do not move the application folder to any other location as it will not work.

· Citrix Server for Non-Windows Users – This solution requires that you be online and access a computer server that is running PureEdge. While this solution is supported by Grants.gov, users should be aware that saving your work often is very important as the Citrix server will time out after 20 minutes and unsaved work can easily be lost. Based on our testing, we’d recommend going with either PC emulation (if you already have purchased it), followed by using the Mac client (if you have a Mac). Your fallback plan would be trying the Citrix solution or finding a PC to complete the submission.

Please note that the requirements differ depending on your operating system and you should read the information available at Grants.gov to decide which is best for you.
