Applicants for Clinical or Clinical-Research Training
Four fellows are accepted for clinical training each year. Applicants must hold an MD (or, equivalent) degree and have completed an Internal Medicine Residency. International Medical Graduates must possess the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification. We offer both H1B and J1 Visas to qualified non-US citizens or permanent residents.
Our program participates in the Nephrology Fellowship Match, and all applicants for clinical training are required to apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). An applicant can rank our program in the clinical track, clinical-research track, or both tracks. Qualified fellows who match in the 2-year clinical track may switch to the clinical-research track at the end of the first year of fellowship.
Applicants for Research Training
Research fellowship without a clinical training component is primarily for candidates with a PhD, an MD, or a similar post-graduate degree who are seeking post-doctoral research training. Applicants with an MD degree typically come for research training after completing their clinical nephrology training, but it is possible to start nephrology fellowship with the research training and complete the clinical training afterwards.
Interested candidates are requested to send a brief statement of interest and curriculum vitae to the Fellowship Program Director Dr. Ashish Upadhyay by email (email@example.com). Additional application materials are sought from qualified candidates, and selected candidates are invited to visit the Nephrology Section to meet faculty and fellows.
We strongly encourage applications from candidates belonging to under-represented minority groups. In addition to being an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer, the Boston University Medical Campus has a strong history of service to minority populations and to advancing careers of minority trainees.
