II. Information for Applicants
Thank you for your interest in specialty residency training in Diagnostic Radiology at Boston University Medical Center.
All application materials are submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Our Department participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). Currently, we recruit 9 residents per class. First-year positions start at the PGY-2 level. The program requires 4 years of continuous full-time training. The clinical internship year (PGY-1) must be sought independently and should be completed prior to beginning the residency program. USMLE Step 2 must be completed prior to graduation from medical school, and USMLE Step 3 should be completed prior to residency or early during residency training. All residents in this program are expected to meet eligibility requirements set forth by the American Board of Radiology ( http://www.theabr.org ).
Please be aware that last year, as in years past, we received more than 700 applications and were only able to extend invitations to fewer than 15%.
We interview invited applicants in December and January. Our interview day begins with breakfast and an informational session with the Program Director. During the morning, applicants take a tour of the medical center with the Chief Residents and have interviews with various members of the department. Applicants attend the noon conference, followed by a relaxed luncheon with a group of residents.
