New SPH Financial Aid Applicants
There is no application deadline for financial aid; however, we suggest that students entering their program in September 2015 complete these three steps as soon as possible.
Students that are beginning the standard MPH, BA/MPH or BS/MPH programs should complete this application process. All other students please visit Other Financial Aid Applicants.
No parent or parental income information is required on the FAFSA or NeedAccess applications.
The 3 Step Application:
1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA. Our school code is 002130.
a. The FAFSA is required for federal and/or institutional financial aid.
b. If you are not required to file a 2014 federal tax return, you will indicate this in the student section.
c. If you state that you “will file” your 2014 federal tax return in the student section, this will delay the processing of your financial aid award notification. You will need to update the field to “have filed” and include your federal tax information in order to proceed.
2. Complete the NeedAccess Application.
a. The NeedAccess Application is required for institutional, need-based aid.
b. If you wish to apply for federal aid only; advise us at firstname.lastname@example.org after completing your FAFSA. If you do not inform our office, SFS will continue to await the NeedAccess Application without awarding aid.
3. Submit a signed copy of your completed 2014 federal tax return with all schedules and copies of your W-2 forms. If you were not required to file a 2014 federal tax return this step is not required.
a. Submit copies of your federal tax return only. Unnecessary confidential information we receive such as state or parental tax information will be shredded for your security.
b. Your financial aid award notification will be delayed if you indicate on your FAFSA and/or NeedAccess application that you have 2014 taxable income and have not submitted copies of your tax documents to SFS.
c. If you were not required to file a 2014 federal tax return, you will indicate “Tax return will not be filed” on the NeedAccess application.
d. Please submit documentation with our Coversheet.
