Boston University Women’s Council

Boston University Women’s Council is accepting scholarship applications from qualified women graduate students for the 2010-2011 academic year. Women graduate students enrolled full-time in a graduate program in any of the colleges within Boston University are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed one year of their graduate studies, anticipate receiving their Master’s degree within two years, or Doctoral degree within five years and show academic promise and demonstrate financial need.

The application deadline is March 1, 2010. Applications, available in the Office of Student Financial Services, should be mailed to Boston University Women’s Council, 146 Commonwealth Ave., Boston, MA 02116.

Boston University Women’s Graduates’ Club

The Boston University Women’s Graduates’ Club is offering a scholarship to Boston University women who are full-time students and U.S. citizens.

The application deadline is 5:00 p.m., March 4, 2010. Applications, available at the Office of Student Financial Services should be submitted to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.

Dean’s Scholarships

Seeking to attract an academically talented and diverse student body, the School considers all applicants for a limited number of Dean’s Scholarships awarded on the basis of the unique strengths an applicant would bring to the School. Such students may also be eligible for need-based financial assistance from OSFS.

Community Scholars Program

The Community Scholars encourages experienced public health workers to study for an MPH while continuing their full-time employment. Each academic year 10 individuals are selected to participate in this program. Eligible applicants must have at least two years of experience and be currently employed full-time in small- to-medium-sized nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Community scholars must remain employed and pursue their master’s degree in Public Health on a part-time basis. Individuals with prior doctoral preparation in clinical fields are not eligible. The deadline for submitting an application is April 15th. Martin Luther King, Jr. Fellowship

This Fellowship is available to students who are U.S. citizens, new to Boston University and beginning graduate studies in any department or school of the University, and who are committed to the principles of social justice espoused by Dr. King.  It provides a scholarship for full-time tuition and fees at the GRS level plus a stipend for living expenses and Boston University health insurance.  The Fellowship is renewable for up to two additional years.  Students may not apply directly for this fellowship, but are nominated by the department of admission.  To be considered for this fellowship, a student should be in contact with the department of admission to request nomination, and provide to the department a statement describing his or her accomplishments, qualifications, and merit for a Fellowship in the name of Dr. King.

Whitney M. Young, Jr. Fellowship

This one-year fellowship is open to entering and continuing graduate students who are U.S. citizens and who have displayed academic proficiency in a field related to race relations or urban problems. The fellowship provides a stipend for living expenses, Boston University health insurance, plus a scholarship for full tuition and fees. Application forms are available from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Room 115, beginning December 1.
