National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarship Program

Certified nurse-midwives, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistants who are U.S. citizens are eligible to apply. The benefits of the NHSC program include payment of tuition, required fees, and a monthly stipend. Because this is a service program, a student is obliged to practice in a federally mandated, high-priority Health Manpower Shortage Area of the United States; the focus is on rural health in undeserved areas. For each year of support, a student is obliged to serve one year with a minimum service obligation of two years. The application deadline is March 26th. Applications are usually available in late February in the Office of Student Financial Services. You may also write or call the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Scholarship Programs Branch, Division of Scholarships and Loan Repayment, 4350 East West Highway, 10th Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814, (301) 594-4400 or visit their website at http://nhsc.bhpr.hrsa.gov. To request applications call 1-800-638-0824 or 1-800-221-9393.
