| ADEA/Johnson and Johnson Healthcare Products Preventive Dentistry Scholarships An award of $2,500 each is granted to 12 dental students enrolled full-time and have demonstrated academic excellence in preventive dentistry. Students should be nominated by the dean of their dental school. The scholarship is to be applied to a student’s tuition and fees for pre-doctoral dental study. | The Air Force Association (AFA) Air Force Spouse Scholarships AFA Air Force Spouse $1,000 Scholarships are offered to spouses of Air Force Active Duty, Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve members. The spouse must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree. Scholarships may be used to pay for any reasonable cost related to pursuing a degree. | Alpha Omega Professional Degree Loan Program The applicant must be a member in good standing of the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and have completed at least one year of dental school. Loans of $1,000-$2,500 are available at a variable interest rate; interest will accrue while the student is enrolled. | American Academy of Implant Dentistry Research Foundation (AAIDRF) The AAIDRF has created a research grant in honor Dr. David Steflik who died in 2001. The David Steflik Memorial Student Research Grant is a competition open to postgraduate dental students who submit manuscripts based on implant-related research studies. Two grants, up to $2,500 each, are awarded annually. The manuscripts are published in the Journal of Oral Implantology and are presented at the annual American Academy of Implant Dentistry Research Foundation Symposium. Minority Dental Student Scholarship
Allied Dental Health Scholarship. ADA $2,500 maximum annual Dental Student Scholarships are awarded to second year students currently attending or enrolled at a dental school accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Awards are determined by financial need and based on grade point average. The deadline is July 31.
The Minority Dental Student Scholarship Program mirrors the Dental Student Scholarship and is available to African American, Hispanic and Native American students. These scholarships are funded in part by Harry J. Bosworth Company, Colgate-Palmolive, Proctor & Gamble, Oral B Laboratories, and John O. Butler Co. The deadline is July 31.
ADA $1,000 maximum annual Allied Dental Health Scholarships are awarded to students entering their final year of study and currently attending a dental hygiene or dental assisting program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Awards are determined by financial need and based on grade point average. The deadline for dental hygienists is August 15, and for dental assistants September 15.
The Allied Dental Health Scholarships are also awarded to students entering their final year of study and currently attending a dental laboratory technology program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. Awards are determined by financial need and based on grade point average. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The deadline is August 15.

| American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC) Students who are members of a federally recognized tribe and are enrolled in graduate study in a U.S. accredited institution can apply for scholarships, the amount of scholarships depend on funds available. Awards are based on financial unmet need and the applicant must also apply for assistance at his/her school. Deadline: June 1, 2001. | Boston University Women’s Council The Boston University Women’s Council is accepting scholarship applications from qualified women graduate students for the 2008-2009 academic year. Women graduate students enrolled full-time in a graduate program in any of the colleges within Boston University are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed one year of their graduate studies, anticipate receiving their Master’s degree within two years, or Doctoral degree within five years and show academic promise and demonstrate financial need.

| World Communion Scholarships International candidates and U.S. citizens who are members of an ethnic minority (Black American, Asian American, Hispanic American, Native American and other ethnic minorities in the U.S.), are active members of the United Methodist Church and are enrolled in a full-time program at an accredited graduate or professional school can apply for scholarships.

| Hispanic Dental Association Scholarship The Hispanic Dental Association (HDA) is now accepting applications for its 2008 -2009 Scholarship Program. Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 will be awarded to support Hispanic students in an accredited dental program in the fall of 2008. Eligible applicants must have a minimum average grade point of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, be of Hispanic origin and show evidence of community service, leadership and/or extracurricular activities. | Hoover-Lee Scholarship The Hoover-Lee Scholarship, in honor of the Reverend and Mrs. James H. Hoover and Bishop and Mrs. Edwin F. Lee will award up to $15,000 to students from Southeast Asia or the Fukien Province who are NOT citizens or permanent residents of the United States.
For each year that the Scholarship Recipient receives the Annual Scholarship Amount, the Scholarship Recipient must return to his or her native country for two years and use his or her education to serve humankind. | Ida Foreman Fleisher Fund The Ida Foreman Fleisher Fund provides scholarships to assist women, preferably Jewish, to obtain their professional education. Grants, which can range from $2,000 to $8,000, are administered by a local bank and are sent directly to the chosen recipient’s school to be used for tuition.

Strong Foundation Student Loans American students entering their final year as full-time students in a degree program at accredited graduate schools can apply for a loan up to $5,000 for the year. | Indian Health Service Loan Repayment and Externship Program The Indian Health Service (IHS) will begin accepting applications for its Loan Repayment Program on January 20, 2008.
The IHS repays all, or a portion of the applicant’s health profession educational loans (undergraduate and graduate) for tuition expenses and reasonable educational and living expenses in amounts up to $20,000 per year for each year of contracted service. In addition to the loan repayments, participants are provided tax assistance payments.
Applications for fiscal year 2008 will be evaluated monthly until all funds are exhausted. All applications must be received by September 30, 2008.
Applicants awarded loan repayment are required to fulfill their service through full-time clinical practice at Indian health program sites. Applicants selected for participation in the fiscal year 2008 program cycle will be expected to begin service no later than September 30, 2008.

The Indian Health Service (IHS) also offers a Student Externship program. The program offers unique opportunities for third-year dental students to gain valuable experience serving in IHS clinics.
In 2008, IHS placed almost 100 dental students in IHS clinics around the country. Externships are available at approximately 24 of 230 hospitals and clinics in 35 states between April 1 and September 30. The 2009 site list and application for the 2010 class will be available at www.dentist.ihs.gov on October 31, 2008. |
