SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT

SCHEDULING YOUR EXIT COUNSELING APPOINTMENT

You can schedule your appointment with Student Financial Services’ (SFS) staff by calling 1-877-776-6243 or 617-638-5130 or visiting SFS at A303.  All graduating students who borrowed institutional and federal loans must attend an Exit Counseling Session at least two weeks prior to their scheduled graduation date.  Sessions last approximately an hour and may be scheduled to begin within the following times:

Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

All sessions are held at SFS, 72 East Concord Street, Room A303, unless otherwise noted.

SPECIAL PRIMARY CARE REQUIREMENTS: If you received funds from any of the sources listed below, you should schedule your Exit Counseling Session with Joseph F. Corbett, Project Manager, at SFS.

John I. Sandson Primary Care Loan
John and Hannah Sandson Primary Care Loan
Ruth M. Batson Primary Care Loan
Federal Primary Care Loan (PCL)
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Loan

WHEN INFORMATION ABOUT YOU CHANGES: We emphasize the importance of keeping your lenders, including Boston University, informed of all changes to your name, address, telephone number, and social security number. This is a responsibility specifically outlined in your promissory notes. If you do not receive mail because you fail to notify your lenders about changes, particularly to your address, this will not alleviate your responsibility to those communications.

GETTING ORGANIZED: Before you can make educated decisions about managing your debt, it will be necessary to collect and organize documents and information regarding your loans. We suggest you create a filing system for your loan papers (i.e., promissory notes, disclosure statements, lender statements, and other correspondence). Now that you are graduating, it may be useful to file these papers by lender and/or loan type, rather than by academic year. Set up a correspondence log and record every telephone conversation with your loan servicers, being sure to obtain the name of every person you speak with. Also, keep copies of all written correspondence. Finally, set up a loan repayment calendar for yourself that includes all of the important things that you must remember to do. Use our information and the materials provided at your Exit Counseling Session as reference materials.
