Welcome to the Boston University Medical Campus (BUMC) Student Financial Services website. BUMC’s Student Financial Services (SFS) is responsible for the design, development, maintenance and administration of this site. Like the cathedrals of Europe, the building of our site will be continuous-unending actually. Moreover, its development will reflect the lifelong learning needs of medical center students who require a site which suggests progressive, synergistic, rather than linear, higher educational modalities. Hence, this site recognizes that, educationally, BUMC students must cope with the rapidly changing information explosion and deal with the challenges of managing student assistance issues and educational debt while planning viable financial futures. We are building this site to help students cope with these challenges.
Yet, no website, however progressive, can do the work and make the decisions required of each individual attempting to finance a health professions education. Consequently, we advise taking an integrated approach to personal financing. This approach involves setting goals, and planning how to attain them, then implementing, reviewing, reevaluating and revising those goals. The essential ingredient here is a constant evaluation of where you are today, financially, relative to where you want to be in the future. Appropriate goal setting and monitoring will help you. We are hopeful that the information, procedures, tools and programs that you find on the site will also help you.
