In exchange for a two-year commitment to research funded by a domestic nonprofit, government or university, the National Institutes of Health Loan Repayment Programs offer researchers the opportunity to reduce their educational debt by up to $35,000 per year.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Doctoral degree (with the exception of the contraception and infertility LRP, applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D. or equivalent)
- Funding for research at a domestic nonprofit, university, or government organization
- Educational loan debt equal to at least 20% of their annual salary
- Conduct research for an average of 20 hours/week
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
