NEW YORK
| Medical Society of the County of St. Lawrence – Residents of St. Lawrence County accepted by U.S. schools of allopathic medicine can apply for service-connected scholarship/loans of $1,500 per year. No repayment is required if the recipient returns to practice in St. Lawrence County. Otherwise repayment must be made within three years of the beginning of private practice. Salk Scholarship – Students enrolled in a college of the City University of New York and accepted for admission to U.S. medical college can apply for scholarships totaling $3,500 over a 4-year curriculum. NORTH CAROLINA
| Student Loan Program for Health, Science, and Mathematics – Residents of North Carolina who are enrolled full-time in approved programs of study may borrow up to $7,500 per year ($30,000 maximum) with two co-signers. Interest of 4% accrues while the recipient is in school and during post-graduate training. Interest is 9% during repayment if the recipient is returning to North Carolina after training to work in an approved employment site; otherwise the interest rate is 15%. | Emanuel Sternberger Educational Fund – Legal residents of North Carolina can borrow up to $1,000-$2,000 a year with a borrowing cap of $5,000. Repayment begins at graduation. | Rural Medical Education Loan and Scholarship Fund – Sponsored by the state of Oklahoma through the Physician Manpower Training Commission to provide financial assistance to residents of the state of Oklahoma who are enrolled in medical or osteopathic college, who wish to return to practice medicine in rural Oklahoman towns with a population of 7,500 or less. The applicant should be planning to do a residency in primary care and have no other conflicting service obligation. Loans of $6,000 for the first and second years of medical/osteopathic school and $12,000 for the third and fourth years are available. For each year of practice in an Oklahoman community of 7,500 or less, one year of loan will be forgiven; there is a minimal service obligation of two years. If a physician decides not to practice in rural Oklahoma, he/she will be required to repay three times the principal plus interest. Contact: James R. | Scholarship Fund of Tulsa County Medical Society – Tulsa County residents enrolled in or accepted at accredited U.S. schools of medicine can apply for scholarships of $200-$1,200. Samuel F. and Sara G. Feinman Fund
The Samuel F. and Sara G. Feinman Fund provides interest-free loans ranging from $2,000 to $4,000 to medical and law students based on financial need. Preference is given to students who live the Greater Philadelphia region and of the Jewish faith who are enrolled in an accredited local law or medical school. It is a requirement of this fund that loan repayments begin within five years after graduation

Addison H. Gibson Foundation Loan – Low interest loans are made to residents of western Pennsylvania who have completed one year of medical school. | The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society – The Foundation provides low-interest loans of up to $5,000 per academic year to Pennsylvania residents. Students must be enrolled full-time in an accredited U.S. medical school, have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and be in good standing with other creditors. Loan awards are based on financial need. Applications must be submitted between March 1st and June 1st.
The Foundation also provides a $500 scholarship to a medical student, preferably a first year-student, who is a resident of Lycoming County in Pennsylvania.
