Evelyn Joy Abramowicz Scholarship for the Disabled

The Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a student with a disability, in memory of Ms. Abramowicz.

The application deadline is May 30, 2010. Applicants must submit a letter outlining their disability, reasons for the request and proof of Quebec residency.

American Association of University Women (AAUW)

The AAUW Selected Professions Fellowship Program is accepting applications for the 2008-2009 academic year. These various grants/fellowships range from $2,000-$100,000 and provide direct financial assistance to women pursuing professional degrees. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.

American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC)

Students who are members of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native Group and are enrolled in graduate study in accredited institutions can apply for AIGC felllowships. Awards are based on financial need and the applicant must also apply for assistance at his/her school. A. T. Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded to American Indian/Alaskan Native students at an accredited college in a program leading to an academic degree in sciences, engineering, medicine or natural resources. Boston Schweitzer Fellows Program

This program provides community service fellowships for up to 30 students from multiple schools and health related disciplines, including medicine, nursing, social work, education, law, and public policy. The program seeks to build leaders who are dedicated to working with the under served in their fellowship year and beyond.

Fellows design and carry out a health-related community service project of 200 hours in collaboration with a local agency and participate in monthly discussions with an interdisciplinary group of peers who meet to reflect on their service learning experience and to develop leadership skills for community work. Fellows receive a $2,000 stipend.

The Betty Ford Center Summer Institute for Medical Students

This program provides both a greater understanding and insight into addictive disease and the recovery process. It is open to all medical students.

Seventy-five scholarship recipients will be selected to participate in either the Inpatient or Family treatment program for five days at the Betty Ford Center, Rancho Mirage, CA. Scholarships include tuition, travel, materials, lodging and on-campus meals.

Boston University Women’s Council

The Boston University Women’s Council is accepting scholarship applications from qualified women graduate students for the 2010-2011 academic year. Women graduate students enrolled full-time in a graduate program in any of the colleges within Boston University are eligible to apply. Applicants must have completed one year of their graduate studies, anticipate receiving their Master’s degree within two years, or Doctoral degree within five years and show academic promise and demonstrate financial need.

Boston University Women’s Graduates’ Club

The Boston University Women’s Graduates’ Club is offering a scholarship to Boston University women who are full-time students and U.S. citizens.

Boston University Women’s Guild

The Boston University Women’s Guild awards scholarships, averaging $5,500, annually to women over 30 years of age who are already enrolled in a graduate program at the University. Business and Professional Women’s Career Advancement Scholarship

Female citizens of the U.S. who are at least 25 years of age and will complete training in an accredited program in the U.S. within 24 months can apply for scholarships of $500-$1,000 per year. Awards are based on financial need. Applications are available starting January 1; deadline of April 15. Chinese American Medical Society

The Chinese American Medical Society was established in 1986 to promote the health, education and scientific research of medical professionals of Chinese decent. They are awarding up to five scholarships to medical and dental students of Chinese decent. Recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic achievement and community service. Chinese American Physicians Society

The Chinese American Physicians Society is awarding up to five scholarships of $2,000 – $5,000 to medical students. Recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic achievement and community service. Crusade Scholarships

U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are members of an ethnic minority (Asians, Blacks, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans) and the United Methodist Church and are enrolled in a full-time program at an accredited graduate or professional school or seminary can apply for renewable scholarships. Awards are based on financial need and academic standing; preference is given to vocations in missions leadership in church and society. Deadline: February 1. Daughters of U.S. Army Fellowships

A renewable fellowship of up to $1,000 may be made available to the daughters (including stepdaughters, adopted daughters, and granddaughters) of active duty, retired, or deceased U.S. Army career (service of more than 20 years) commissioned or warrant officers. Applications are available from November 1st to March 1st with a March 1st deadline. Hana Scholarship

U.S. citizens or permanent residents of Hispanic, Asian, or Native American parentage who are full members of the United Methodist Church and in full-time attendance at an accredited graduate school are eligible to apply for an award of up to $1,000 maximum. Hattie M. Strong Foundation Student Loans

American students within one year of completing studies in a degree program at accredited graduate schools can apply for a loan of up to $3,000 for the year. The Hillel Medical Scholarship Program

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

Scholarship, grants and fellowship opportunities are available through the Hispanic Scholarship Fund for Hispanic U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents. Hoover-Lee Scholarship

The Hoover-Lee Scholarship, in honor of the Reverend and Mrs. James H. Hoover and Bishop and Mrs. Edwin F. Lee will award up to $15,000 to students from Southeast Asia or the Fukien Province who are NOT citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

For each year that the Scholarship Recipient receives the Annual Scholarship Amount, the Scholarship Recipient must return to his or her native country for two years and use his or her education to serve humankind. Ida Foreman Fleisher Fund

The Ida Foreman Fleisher Fund provides scholarships to assist women, preferably Jewish, to obtain their professional education. Grants, which can range from $2,000 to $8,000, are administered by a local bank and are sent directly to the chosen recipient’s school to be used for tuition.

International Order of The King’s Daughters and Sons Scholarship

Medical students who are U.S. or Canadian citizens may apply for scholarships of $1,000 for the second, third, or fourth years of study. Japanese Medical Society Scholarship Awards

Six awards of $2,000 are awarded to students of Japanese ancestry who are enrolled in or accepted at accredited medical schools. Deadline: February 15. Joseph Collins Foundation Grant

Medical students interested in neurology, psychiatry, or general practice are nominated by the Medical School. Only one student per year can be nominated and the nomination is based on merit and financial need. After the student is nominated, the application must be submitted by the student by March 1. Check with OSFS and/or Student Affairs.
