Deeba Husain, MD
Dr. Husain’s practice consists of patients referred for diagnosis and management of diseases of the retina. Her clinical interests are in the medical treatment of all retinal diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, and surgical repair of all vitreoretinal conditions including retinal detachment, macular holes, epiretinal membranes.
Dr. Husain is the Director of the Retina Service at the department of Ophthalmology, Boston University School of Medicine. She is a board certified Ophthalmologist and Vitreo-Retinal specialist. Dr. Husain graduated from the Jawaharlal Nehru School of Medicine in India. She did her internship from Newton Wellesley Hospital. She completed her residency in Ophthalmology from Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School. She then continued her education with a two year Vitreo-Retinal fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School. She is currently an assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at the Boston University School of Medicine.
Dr. Husain has done pioneering research in photodynamic therapy in macular degeneration; she is actively involved in research on diseases of the retina. She has written several book chapters, review articles and many original papers in peer review journals. She is the director of the retina fellowship training program at the department of Ophthalmology, Boston University School of Medicine.
