Useful Short-Term Websites
Students searching for short-term housing and need to keep their budget lower than the normal range for this type of housing in Boston will probably want to look at a sublet or housing swap option. Here are some good websites to help find those types of situations.
Rotating Room
Rotating Room is a sublet/swap system designed by a former Harvard Medical School student. It does require its users to have a valid “.edu” email address. This is one of the best-designed short-term housing systems in Boston.
Craig’s List Sublet Section
The Craig’s List section devoted to sublets and temporary apartments has all of the same advantages and disadvantages of the larger site itself. It does host more potential options that all of the other websites listed here combined; however, Craig’s List’s short-term section is extremely time-sensitive. It is not unusual to see apartment listings start to show up only two weeks before they are available.
Sublet.com
Sublet.com is a large, multi-city sublet searching database. Some of its listings are available for free, but many of them are not. It straddles the user-friendliness of Rotating Room with the higher number of listings of Craig’s List.
