Short-Term Arrangements
If you are looking for housing during a rotation or elective, or a sublet, you’ll probably want to consider some of these short-term options. If your length of stay is greater than four weeks subletting an apartment may be the way to go. Housing in Boston is generally focused on the standard 12-month lease, but there are options to find shorter-term stays. Here are some place to look for resources:
- Determine what your budget will be during your stay, and how long you will be in Boston. Stays of less than a month are rare, and if you are doing a rotation or observership that will last a shorter amount of time, you may want to skip the short-term rental agencies and the OHR listings.
- Look into the OHR list of available short-term rental situations. Many of the listings we’ve put together will be sublets from current students who are doing their own rotations.
- Look into some of the short-term rental agencies in the city. These organizations usually specialize in renting furnished studio- or 1-bedroom apartments. They are not usually the cheapest option.
- Look into the short-term options on Craig’s List’s short-term housing section. Much like the property listings, there are a lot of opportunities on that site, but it can take some time to comb through them.
- Check out the great new sublet website, Rotating Room. It was put together by a medical student and is easy to use.
