A graduate-level course AN807 “Visual System” will be offered in the Spring 2007 term. The course will cover visual neurophysiology at all levels from retina to extrastriate cortex, and the implications of discoveries on visual funcion for theories of brain function in general. Eye-tracker

Mini-courses, Spring 2005

CBI faculty will offer two informal, interleaved mini-courses for CBI users, students and postdocs interested in learning the foundations necessary to appreciate cutting-edge MR research. Principles of visual neurophysiology (Drs. Toth and Kim), and Principles of MR Physics (Dr. Ronen). Class will meet Wed. mornings, 8-10. 3T update – system 10.4 installed

The Philips 3T MRI at the BU Center for Biological Imaging has been upgraded in software and in hardware to the new Philips system 10.4. Highlights of the new release are improved protocols, high-order shimming capability, and new file export options. Contact Dr. Ronen for more details.

Bataclan paintings brighten MRI center

Bren Bataclan, a local artist known for his “Smile Boston” project, has contributed 15 paintings, including 5 new creations, for the new Center for Biological Imaging. Four new characters, referred to by the staff as ‘brain guy’, ‘heart guy’, ‘extremity guy’, and ‘stomach guy’ brighten the new center’s basement location and create a welcoming space for subjects. http://www.bataclan.com

Flex-M coil arrives

The Philips 3.0T FLEX-M coil is a two loop SENSE-capable coil designed for flexible and easy positioning around body parts of irregular geometry, such as the shoulder. It is now available for use in the center.
