Whitney Manhart Receives F31 Fellowship Award

Congratulations to Whitney Manhart in the Mostoslavsky anMühlberger Labs who was awarded a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) F31 Individual Predoctoral Fellowship Award from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease for her work characterizing Ebolavirus infection in iPSC-derived hepatocytes. Nice job, Whitney!

Florian Douam Awarded Peter Paul Career Development Professorship

2019 Corwin Award Winner

We are happy to announce that Matthew Gagne from Andy Henderson’s laboratory is the recipient of the 2019 Corwin Award. The Corwin Award was established in 1994 to recognize a Microbiology Graduate Student who displays the qualities of an outstanding departmental “citizen”, one whose exemplary scholarly and/or scientific achievement, values of collegiality and scientific integrity, and active participation in department and campus activities best epitomize the contributions of the former member of our department, Larry Corwin. I think you will all agree that Matt embodies all of these qualities and richly deserves this award.

2019 Microbiology Trainee Travel Awards

1st place: Alex Barron (graduate student – Browning lab) will be attending the 103rd Annual Meeting of the American Association of Immunologists in San Diego, CA from May 9-13, 2019.

2nd place: Molly Braun (graduate student – Fearns lab) will be attending the RNA Biology Symposium in Bethesda, MD from April 11-12, 2019.

2nd place: Kyle Pedro (graduate student– Henderson lab) will be attending the Keystone Symposia on Functional Cures and Eradication of HIV in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada from March 24-28, 2019.
