Admissions Process & Applying

The MHCBM Program has an rolling admission process, there are no deadlines.  However students who have  apply early and has attended one of our Open House Sessions can be offered an interview.  We usually offer between 8-10 program informational dates and 6-8 interviews beginning in October and ending in June.  Applying early usually increases your chances for an interview.

All student interested in applying to the MHCBM program, are expected to have completed their baccalaureate degree, from an accredited college and submit results of their GRE’s. Most applicants have backgrounds in psychology and related fields including neuroscience, others have a basic sciences background but have demonstrated interest or completed coursework in mental health. Student interested in submitting an application must apply to the Division of Graduate Medical Sciences department. All applications submitted by postal delivery are $50.00 dollars, if students decide to use our online application service please note the application fee is $60.00.

Credentials necessary to complete application process:

  • Three letters of recommendations
  • Academic transcripts from all previous schools, including the date your degree was awarded.
  • Personal statement letter of not less than 200 words describing your qualifications and objectives to this program. Please include research activities, and memberships to Mental Health organizations if applicable.

Each student is required to submit the results of a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) with a score of 75 percentile, or the MCATS (Medical College Admissions Test) which are also acceptable. MCATS scores are normally between 8’s and 9’s.

Applicants from countries where English is not the language of instruction. A student must achieve a score of 600 or above on the (TOEFL), and complete the International Student Data Form (ISDF). Students must also express interest in the field of Mental Health. Clinical and research experience is also a plus.
