A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Berger-Greenstein earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Bradley University, in Peoria, IL, and Masters and Doctoral Degrees in Clinical Psychology from Bowling Green State University, in Bowling Green, OH where she specialized in Behavioral Medicine. She initially joined the MHCBM Program as an adjunct instructor at the inception of our program, and joined us a full-time core faculty member in 2004.
Dr. Berger-Greenstein is our Curriculum Director, in addition to teaching a number of our courses, including Counseling Techniques, Behavioral Medicine and Applied Health Psychology, and Professional Orientation and Ethics. She also facilitates Practicum and Internship Supervision courses, as well as our program Seminar Series, and is the faculty liaison for our student representative group. She was nominated by students and awarded the “Educator of the Year” Award for the BU School of Medicine in the Spring of 2009.
Dr. Berger-Greenstein’s clinical and research interests are in the areas of general behavioral medicine and health psychology, HIV/AIDS, trauma, and ethics. She recently concluded a three-year National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)-funded study investigating the efficacy of HIV prevention interventions for people with serious and persistent mental illness, in collaboration with Dr. Stephen Brady, the MHCBM Program Director. She spent five years serving as a clinician in a federally-funded, multi-site intervention study designed to investigate the effect of a motivational interviewing intervention on adherence for people living with HIV/AIDS. She has published several articles on the topic of HIV/AIDS and presented at numerous professional conferences.
Dr. Berger-Greenstein is also a behavioral health provider at the Boston Medical Center Behavioral Health Clinic, where she provides clinical evaluations and psychotherapy for adult outpatients.
