Registration for Teaching with Technology Festival closes 9/14

BU’s Digital Learning & Innovation (DL&I) will be hosting the third annual Teaching with Technology Festival on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 9 am to 4 pm at the George Sherman Union (2nd floor, 775 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA). Faculty registration closes Friday, Sept. 14.

The Festival raises awareness of the rich ecosystem of digital multimedia technologies that are available at BU.  Learn how you can leverage these technologies to design and implement technology-enhanced learning experiences that encourage active and experiential learning.

The Festival also allows instructors to explore how this ecosystem can help them implement the BU Hub’s Digital/Multimedia Expression (D/ME) learning outcomes in their courses. Staff from the Center for Teaching & Learning will be at hand throughout the day and are looking forward to answer BU Hub D/ME related questions. The recent addition of university-sponsored Adobe Creative Cloud licenses for all undergraduate students and instructors teaching in the undergraduate curriculum puts these industry-leading technologies at your fingertips.

Some topics the Festival will cover:

  • Creating multimedia assignments in Blackboard or Sakai with students posting their audio/video creations through the LMS directly into BU’s powerful streaming media platform, MyMedia.
  • Enabling interactive multimedia course reflection and documentation, deepening student learning using e-portfolios.
  • Learning about the availability and the use of digital assessment technologies, synchronous communication technologies, various video and lecture capture technologies.

In the afternoon you can participate in hands-on creative workshops (sign-up required) that allow you to build your own media using applications from the Adobe Creative Cloud. Expert assistance during the workshops is available and you will have the opportunity to share your creations with other Festival participants.

Registered workshop participants will have an opportunity to walk away with technology prizes, such as a GoPro camera, Wacom tablet, a Kindle, or a camera and microphone package.
