Molecular Medicine

Organized in March 2002, the Section of Molecular Medicine comprises the Biomolecular Medicine Unit; the Center for the Molecular Stress Response; the Molecular Genetics Unit; the Obesity Research Center; the Genetics Program; and the Whitaker CVI Digital Imaging Microscopy Center. Taken as a whole, the Section represents a diverse set of basic science interests focused on the application of state-of-the-art technologies to understand the underlying molecular basis of disease. Accordingly, the Section’s research focus ranges from basic genetics to the development of novel biotherapeutics for the targeted elimination of disease-causing cells.Common to each Unit, Center, or Program is the application of molecular biologic and molecular genetic methods for the long-term goal of bringing new therapies and approaches to the management of refractory human disease. Section members are actively involved in the training of graduate students enrolled in the basic science departments of Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), as well as graduate students in the Department of Medicine’s Molecular Medicine Graduate Program. In addition, the Section provides opportunities for advanced post-doctoral training.
